PURPOSE:To apply the same backup roll to all rolls of the rolling mill in order to reduce the number of the rolls in stock, by employing the backup roll provided with the oil film bearing's sleeve possible to be used as the roller bearing's inner race in common. CONSTITUTION:The straight sleeve 11 is pressure-fitted and fixed to the backup roll 2. That is, instead of the usual taper sleeve for constituting the oil film bearing, the straight sleeve 11 is employed, so as to make possible the roller bearing's inner race to be substituted by the straight sleeve. Hereby, all rolls of the continuous rolling mill are constituted of only one kind of the backup roll provided with the staright sleeve type oil film bearing. Besides, according to this constitution, the support for grinding the roll and the support for bearing the rolling work can be set at one point, so that the roll neck is freed from trouble of eccentricity, and the thickness accuracy of the rolled sheet can be improved. |
