The steplessly adjustable telescoping suction pipe (1) with outer and inner tubes (2, 3) for vacuum cleaners comprises a locking element in the form of a cylindrical spring (4) which surrounds the inner tube (3), with one of its ends attached to the outer tube (2) and the other end (4b) attached to a slider element (5) mounted on the outer tube. Release and application of the locking element takes place by displacement of the end (4b) of the spring (4) respectively in the (11) and (11a) directions.
