The dishwasher includes several support frames (13) which have upwardly aligned spikes (19) to hold the articles (20) to be washed whereupon the supports can be pushed into the wash chamber (3) one above the other. Each support frame (13) has a downwardly projecting connecting pipe (22) and an upwardly projecting connector (50, 60). The system ensures that when each support frame is pushed into the wash chamber (3) and is located in the operative position each connecting pipe (22) can be brought into engagement with the connector of the support frame below or with the fixedly installed connector (10) so that a complete pipe system is produced ensuring the water reaches the water outlet nozzles (21) provided on the holder spikes (19). At least the connectors (50, 60) of the uppermost support frame (13) in the wash chamber (3) can be closed to ensure the water circuit is complete. It is preferable however if all the connectors have an automatically closing seal wherein the flow cross-section must be open when the support frame above is in the operative position.
