A railway level crossing is formed by a number of interfitting slabs (1 and 17) which may be made from injection-moulded polyethylene foam, to provide a lightweight, longlasting roadway. The space between the rails (4) of each track is made up from a series of abutting slabs (17) each extending between the rails (4) whereas the areas on the outside of the rails (4) are made up of a series of abutting field slabs (1) extending to the concrete or other paving 29, 30. The abutting ends of both types of modules (1 and 17) interlock and are related to overlap each other. Screws (14) are inserted through the overlapping portions (11, 12 and 21, 22) screwed into the sleepers (10) to anchor the slabs. <IMAGE> |
