<p>The clutch has a magnetic coil fitting in an annular chamber (34) defined by two magnetically conductive clutch halves (28, 30). The separation plane (36) between the latter extends transverse to the axis of the annular chamber (34) within the centre region of the chamber (34). Pref. both clutch halves (28, 30) comprise an annular U-shaped trough with their edges (38, 40) contacting one another when the coil (32) is energised. The two halves (28, 30) are pref. identical forming a toroid when they are fitten together and the edges (40) of at least one of them has a structured surface, to provide a friction face.</p> |
