<p>PURPOSE:To securely read out tape positional information on a magnetic tape by keeping a velocity component of a head in the direction of a track constant even when the magnetic tape speed is changed from low speed to high speed. CONSTITUTION:The traveling speed of the magnetic tape 1 is detected by a tape speed detecting means 5, and the number of revolutions of a rotary cylinder is settled so as to keep the velocity component of the head 2 under said magnetic tape 1 speed in the track direction constant, and hence the title device is controlled with this number of revolutions. For this, even when the speed of the magnetic tape 1 is changed from low speed to high speed, the velocity component of the head 2 in the track direction is always kept constant. By this method, even when the magnetic tape is brought at once into high speed traveling condition from low speed traveling condition or into low speed traveling condition from high speed traveling condition, the tape positional information on the magnetic tape can securely by read out in such a process of accelerating or decelerating the tape speed.</p> |
