1522524 Hydrodemetallization of residual oils SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSHAPPIJ BV 11 Sept 1975 [13 Sept 1974] 37402/75 Addition to 1438645 Heading C5E The process described and claimed in Parent Specification for demetallizing and subsequently catalytically converting a residual hydrocarbon oil is carried out using a demetallization catalyst which has been prepared by the nodulizing technique and has a pore volume in pores with a diameter larger than 50 nm of at least 0À2 ml/g. The catalyst carrier can be prepared by granulating on a rotating disc granulator a powder having a diameter of at most 0À1 mm to form 1-4 mm granules. In Examples, the catalyst carrier is prepared by granulating (a) spray dried alumina, (b) spray dried alumina + 2% glass powder and (c) soot, the carrier is calcined and impregnated with nickel nitrate, either ammonium molybdate or vanadyl oxalate and optionally monoammonium phosphate.
|
