Window frame connection to opening in brickwork - uses extended profile of heat transfer preventing plastics section

The window frame (2) is a composite design consisting of extruded section (2a) and (2b) joined together by plastic section (5) which serves at the same time as heat bridge-preventing element. The window leaf (1) is built up similarly consisting of section (1a) and (1b) connected by a plastics section (4). The plastics section (5) is provided with protruding parts which fit with corresponding grooves and channels on the adjacent surfaces of sections (2a) and (2b) and has a part extending beyond the periphery of the frame (2) in form of an element (6) which can take up the threaded end of a stay bolt (7) by which it is positioned against the edge (3) of the brickwork opening. A variation of the section (5) is used to connect the frame (2) to an adjacent frame, in which case the extended part of the section is provided with protruding elements (9) to engage with corresponding channels on the adjacent frame leg.
