Printed circuit connector contact system - uses ultrasonic generator for testing, which is coupled to contact system pins for transmission of ultrasonic oscillations

The connector is used for testing circuit boards, and has contact pins (1) held in a guide (2) in a manner permitting longitudinal movement. These pins can be set on selected points of the printed circuit conductive tracks. An incorporated ultrasonic generator (3) is connected to one or several contact pins for their oscillation. Pref. the contact pin connection with the generator contains an intermediate spring (4). The oscillation frequency of the ultrasonic generator is pref. an integral multiple of the resonance frequency of the spring -contact pin system. Each contact pin may be coupled to a separate ultrasonic generator and held, together with the same in the guide in a base plate, the generator being formed by piezo-electric bodies. Alternately magnetostrictive bodies may be used for this purpose. The base plate may be of magnetically conductive material, with a field coil, generating a magnetic field.
