<p>The auxiliary air intake is positioned on the engine side of the carburettor designed to open whenever the accelerator pedal is rapidly depressed, the extra air intake ensuring a proper mixture at such times. The air intake is controlled by a solenoid, powered as a function of the accelerator depression. The solenoid core is rotated when energised, the rotation being transmitted to a butterfly valve (23) housed in a block attached to the carburettor outlet (2). The valve is positioned in line with the solenoid core, a bolt with a slotted head (26) passing through it from side-to-side. The valve is turned by the shaped end of the solenoid core engaging with the slot. The core also operates a switch supplying a dashboard lamp or lamps providing a monitor function.</p> |
