A single conducting fibre (1) butts against two connecting fibres (2, 3) at the coupling position (5), at the other end of the connecting fibres are located a continuation fibre (4) and a decoupling fibre (5), these fibres and the conducting one having relatively thin sheaths (11, 41, 51), but the connecting fibres being formed solely by the cores. The whole coupler is affixed to a substrate, the individual fibres being secured by fasteners (7, 8). The axes of the connecting fibres are in the same plane as that of the incoming sheathed fibre. The diameter of the connecting fibres is the same as that of the core diameter of the conducting and (de)coupling fibres. This type of (de)coupler reduces the insertion losses, and expands the operating range without limiting its use to one branch only.
|
