The strainer is especially for washing vegetables, salads and such like, and consits of a rectangular base (10) with perforations (11) to which four sides are joined. The letters are mounted at the top of a flange-type frame (13) attached to one side. The two parallel lengthwise (15) sides of the frame have guide pieces for a working top (19) which can be slid along them. Underneath the working top is slidably inserted a trough-shaped container (22) for refuse with drain holes. The trough guides in the frame are mounted below the guides for a slidable work plate.
