The heat-insulating capacity of a hollow block made of light clinker material can be enhanced if a filling 15 of heat-insulating material is inserted in the cavities 11- 13. Each insulating element is compressed as it is inserted, so that it acquires less or the same volume as the surrounding cavity and the material is chosen such that, upon subsequent handling, it expands out of the cavity and forms tenons which jut beyond the top and bottom sides of the block. In the building of a wall, mortar is distributed along the inner and outer side of the wall, so that the tenons from the insulating material break the cold bridge formed by the masonry joints in conventional masonry work. <IMAGE> |
