<p>A device for cutting continuous film transversely to produce a series of individually wrapped packages comprises a pair of scissors-type blades mounted on a carriage which can (a) be raised to allow a pack to pass beneath the carriage, and (b) can follow longitudinal motion of the film while the carriage moves to perform a transverse cut. Used for wrapping and sealing packages between two layers of film which are simultaneously cut and welded. This requires less frequent sharpening than a beam knife pressing against a supporting pad, and more suitable for cutting film riding a moving conveyor, without damaging the conveyor.</p> |
