PURPOSE:To obtain a food having low calorific value and high absorptivity of iron, by compounding a hemoferrum-containing compound originated from hemoglobin with a specific amount of L-sorbose. CONSTITUTION:A hemoferrum-containing compound is produced from hemoglobin by conventional method. 1 pt.wt. of the compound is added with about >=1.25 pts.wt. of L-sorbose. The mixture is mixed with an excipient (e.g., starch of lactose) and tableted or properly mixed with a raw material for candy, cookie, jelly, etc., to obtain an iron-enriched sweet food having low calorific value. |
