Liq. hydrocarbon prodn. from dry organic waste - by low-temp. carbonisation followed by heat treatment of prod. gas

Prodn. of liq. hydrocarbons from organic waste materials which release practically no H2O when subjected to lowtemp. carbonisation is carried out by (a) carbonising the material at =800 degrees K in the absence of air, (b) subjecting the prod. gas to heat treatment by indirect heating at 900-1200 degrees K without addn. of air or other gases, and (c) condensing liq. prods. Unlike prior art process, in which the prod. gas from step (a) contains H2O and step (b) results in cracking, step (b) in the present process is stated to result in cyclisation and aromatisation of hydrocarbons, giving a prod. useful as a chemical feedstock.
