<p>A pressure capsule for a pressure sensor comprising a first (102) and a second (104) oppositely situated parallel flexible plates separated by a centrally located ring (106) of dielectric material forming an internal chamber (148) therebetween, and defining a pressure responsive regions in said first plate and said second plate in the areas of said plates interior to said ring, said pressure responsive regions deflecting in response to pressure applied thereto, conductive means (110, 114) located on said plates (102, 104) within said internal chamber (148) for forming the conducting surfaces of a pressure sensitive capacitor (Cp) and for generating a capacitive signal indicative of said applied pressure, contact pad means (128, 140) for communicating said capacitive signal from said conductive means including at least one contact pad associated with each of said conducting surfaces of said first and of said second plate of said pressure sensitive capacitor, said at least one contact pad radially extending from its respective surface and located proximate the edge of each of said plates, and wherein said at least one contact pad (128) is associated with said conducting surface (110) of said first plate (102) and said at least one contact pad (140) associated with said conductive surface (114) of said second plate are located equidistant from one another.</p> |
