PURPOSE:To prepare fish meal and fish oil having low oxidation degree and high qualities, in high yield, without emitting ill odor, by treating crushed fishes and shellfishes with superheated steam, and separating the fishes, etc. into fish meal and fish oil with an oil press. CONSTITUTION:Fishes and shellfishes such as whole fish, fish meat, or by-products of fish-processing factory, are crushed and dried with superheated steam. Dried fish, etc. is separated into fish meal and fish oil with an oil press. For example, the raw materials such as whole fish, fish meat, inedible part of fish, or by-products of a fish-processing factory, etc. are crushed with a crusher such as mincing machine to the size which passes through the 5-50mmphi mesh. The crushed raw material is charged into a heating vessel furnished with a stirrer, and heated and dried by introducing superheated steam of 140-180 deg.C and atmospheric pressure into the vessel through the inlet of the raw material. The dried fish is separated into fish meal and fish oil with an oil press. Since the contact of the fish with air is minimized in the course of the treatment, the oxidation of the product can be prevented. |
