The fuel injection system for an IC enginecomprises a number of individual injection pumps each including a reciprocable pumping plunger. A device within the pump actuates the associated plunger. Fuel injection nozzles are associated with the pumps respectively and through which fuel displaced by the associated plungers flows, in use, to the combustion spaces of the engine. An adjustable stop member is operable to determine the position attained by the pump plunger during its filling stroke. A linkage device interconnects the stop members. An actuating mechanism sets the position of the linkage device and a transducer provides a signal indicative of the setting of the stop members. The signal in use is supplied to a control system which controls the operation of the actuating mechanism. |
