<p>PURPOSE:To make noxious gas components in gas harmless, and to obtain clean gas, by a method wherein substance with a catalytic function is applied on the heat resisting substance of three-dimensional mesh skeleton structure having a large number of communicating pores. CONSTITUTION:Spongy moldings and reticulate moldings are formed in proper dimensions correponding to a using mode by using materials such as synthetic resin such as polyurethane, polyester, etc., Japanese paper, etc. Heat resisting substance such as Al2O3, cordierite, etc. is baked and pulverized, mixed with water and a binder and changed into magma. The magma is adsorbed to the said moldings or the moldings are steeped in the magma, and the magma is attached to the moldings and dried. When the desired thickness is formed by repeating this operation several times and the dried body is baked for 2-3hr at 1,000 deg.C or more and cooled, the heat resisting substance 1, 3 of three-dimensional mesh skeleton structure having a large number of communicating pores 2, 4 is obtained.
