A liquid crystal display device is provided. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the liquid crystal display device comprises: a first transparent substrate with an image display unit and a transmission unit; a second transparent substrate facing the first transparent substrate; a liquid crystal layer formed between the first transparent substrate and the second transparent substrate; a first polarization plate attached to one side surface of the first transparent substrate; and a second polarization plate attached to one side surface of the second transparent substrate. The transmission unit is in a normally white mode. Therefore, the liquid crystal display device can improve a transmission rate.
