<p>The pincer action wrench has an adjustable jaw (2,8), with a hand lever (17a) actuated knuckle jointed (19) stay (17,18) to lock the jaws on a workpiece whilst applying a strong grip. A hand lever (29) allows the jaws to be released one handed. The stay pivots a 'V' shaped movable jaw (7) pinned (6) in an inverted 'U' section hand lever (1) incorporating the fixed jaw (2). Recoil of the movable jaw is by a coil spring (11) with lateral restraint (14,15). The pin (6) can be sited in different notches (5) in lever windows (4), and the attachment (20) of the stay to the lever uses a screw (23,24) adjusted slide (21). The stay (17,18) extends between the slide (21) and the apex (16) of the movable lever (7). The front (17) cantilevers beyond the joint (19) to form a second lever (17a). The release lever (29) is mounted on the cantilever (17a), pivots in the same direction, and uses a ridged edge (31) to break the stay.</p> |
