A process and an apparatus for the closing of cuboid bags filled with a pourable material are proposed. The process and the apparatus are intended to ensure that the finished bag packs (1) have a cuboid shape despite the shallow-forming of the closure. For this purpose, the bag walls arranged transversely relative to the closing seam are inclined relative to one another during the shallow-forming of the upper bag-edge region.
