The gas leakage protection system is for a hose comprising an inner section through which the gas for consumption flows, enclosed by a concentric outer one, the intervening space accommodating a control gas. A pilot diaphragm divides a housing into a chamber subjected to the control gas pressure, and a working chamber through which the consumption gas flows, and controls a valve in the path of the latter, shut when the chamber pressures are equal. The system is incorporated in a pressure-regulator housing, and the control gas is supplied via a passage branching off from a union for the consumption gas, and a control gas valve. The latter is coupled to the diaphgram on the opposite side to the consumption gas valve, opening when this shuts and vice-versa.
