Heat resistant structural element - with central glass wool layer protected by expanded glass blocks and wire mesh

A heat resistant structural panel, made of incombustible materials, consists of a base plate of asbestos cement which is sepd. from the cover plate of prestressed silicate glass by a layer of several centimetres thickness of rock wool or glass wool. The layers are bonded to each other by an organic weather resistant adhesive on the base of polychloroprene rubber. The adhesive layer on the glass side carries an embedded wire mesh. Ingress of moisture to the central layer of rock wool or glass wool is prevented by blocks of expanded glass around all edges. The wire mesh is extended over the blocks and stapled to the base plate. Such a panel is not affected by atmospheric action or weather. It is a stable element which does not disintegrate in case of a fire and retains its insulating efficiency.
