<p>When dealing with heavy workpieces which require the use of both hands to lift them, it is difficult to place them in a vice without the use of special lifting tackle since the operator has no free hand to rotate the vice spindle. The problem is solved by making a square hole in the end of the vice spindle to receive the square end of a ratchet spanner. The ratchet spanner has a stirrup attached to its outer end by a metal strip. The user can then rotate the vice spindle with his foot whilst holding the workpiece with both hands.</p> |
