During the transport and storage of the tank, the pipe connection (1) is closed via a sealing ring (2) pressed onto the end of the pipe by a cap welded onto the outer dia. of the pipe. Heat exchangers, pressure vessels etc., are filled with a pressurised inert gas, e.g. N2, and sealed until they are ready for use. The seal prevents the leakage of the gas despite changes in ambient temp. from -30 deg.C. to +20 deg.C.
