Expanding wall plug assembly - has conical expander which is driven inwards over core to wedge plug in hole

A wall plug has an outer thin-walled sleeve (4) containing an inner core (1) with an outer conical surface, around which an expander (2) with a mating conical inner surface locates. In the free condition, the expander (2) protrudes a little from the sleeve (4). The sleeve is a loose fit in a hole (5) in a wall, having a flange (13) to locate it against the face of the wall. When the expander (2) is driven inwards flush with the flange (13) the wedge action between it and the core (1) forces the sleeve (4) outwards against the sides of the hole (5).
