The connection between a vehicle axle(1) and a longitudinal member(2) of a vehicle chassis includes a flange(3) mounted on the end region of the axle, and a flanged portion(4, 5, 6) of the longitudinal member. A web(5) of the flanged portion has an opening(10) through which the axle extends. The opening also extends through a bottom flange(6) of the flanged portion and is bridged by a bottom flange(9) of the flange mounted on the axle. The axle flange and longitudinal member have frusto-conical telescoping sectioned portions(12, 13) surrounding the flange holes(14).
