Stator pole detection system for linear motor drive vehicle - uses on-board inductors spaced apart by multiple of trackside measuring coil crossover points

The system is used for a vehicle with a linear motor drive having a stator winding extending along the length of the track and employs inductive transmitters on board the vehicle cooperating with a measuring coil system along the track. The vehicle has at least two inductors (I1, I2) operating at the same or at differing frequencies, spaced apart by a distance which is a whole multiple of the spacing (IJpM) between the crossover points of the measuring coils. Pref. the train has an oscillator (O1) coupled to a number of transmission amplifiers (V1, V2) for the respective inductors (I1, I2), with an identical stand-by oscillator (O2) brought into operation if the first oscillator fails.
