A process for the continuous preparation of propylene chlorhydrin by reacting clorine and propylene in aqueous solution at from 20 to 80 degrees C under superatmospheric pressure, characterized in that the starting materials, chlorine, propylene and water, flowing in co-current, are reacted under a pressure of from 15 to 40 bar without recycling a part-stream of the reaction mixture to the reaction zone.
