Water-soluble disazo dyestuffs having the general formula B1-N=N-Z-N=N-B2 wherein Z is <IMAGE> +TR <IMAGE> wherein Y and M are the same or different and are methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, and halogen, a and b are 0, 1 or 2, X is <IMAGE> -0- or -S-, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl having one to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl or benzyl, B1 is a CH-acid coupling component of the acetoacetic acid arylamide series of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R2 is phenyl, substituted phenyl, naphthyl-1, benzimidazolon-5-yl, substituted benzimidazolon-5-yl, or substituted napthyl-1, naphthyl-2, or substituted naphthyl-2, and B2 denotes a second coupling component radical wherein B1 and B2 are identical or different with the proviso that said disazo compound contains at least one sulpho group or carboxyl group in the dyestuff molecule.
