PURPOSE:To rationally perform the collection of formaldehyde by a reaction liquid and the collection of a collection liquid, by constituting a formaldehyde collection apparatus of a reactor for the gas-liquid contact of formaldehyde- containing air with the reaction liquid and a cooler for cooling the air passing through the reaction liquid. CONSTITUTION:Aqueous ammonia is scattered in the reactor 40 of a formaldehyde collection apparatus 18 as a reaction liquid and formaldehyde in air is reacted with ammonia to form a sedimentary product. A part thereof falls to a liquid sump 44 along with the reaction liquid but a part thereof is accompanied by air to go to a cooler 41. Mist like liquid droplets and the reaction product are collected by the eliminators 52, 53 of the cooler 41 to naturally fall to a liquid sump 50. Since the surface of the cooling coil 51 in the cooler 41 is held to low temp. by driving a heat pump unit 59 and a cooling medium pump 58, the humidity in the air passing through the cooler 41 is condensed on the surface of the coil, and the reaction liquid and the reaction product are contained in condensed water and this condensed water is naturally falls to the liquid sump 50 from the surface of the coil and mist like fine particulate substances are collected by the eliminator 53 on the downstream side. |
