<p>PURPOSE:To prevent backfire during deceleration or coasting by providing a valve mechanism which opens a port of a case under negative pressure in a space, enclosed by a diaphragm and case, to release atomsphere into the space. CONSTITUTION:In deceleration of an internal combustion engine, an abrupt rise of the pressure in the space 12 affected by a sudden high intake air pressure due to a connection of a pipe 11 pushes a diaphragm 1 up to take a valve off from a seat 20, which allows an inflow of air. However, as an orifice 2 formed in the diaphragm 1 balances those pressures in both spaces 12, 13 for a short period, the valve 10 chokes the seat 20 to shut off air. In deceleration, air flows from an inlet 4 to an outlet 6, cutting a course through a throttle valve of a carburetor, and is fed into a suction pipe so that backfire can be prevented. On the other hand, in coasting, the same effect of opening the valve 10 can be gained because a high pressure applied in the space 13 as much as the space 12 is released by opening the valve 19.</p> |
