<p>The mult-cylinder piston engine has compression adjustable by a hydraulic piston working in an auxiliary chamber connected to each cylinder, so as to vary the clearance vol. Each hydraulic piston (8) has a pressure relief valve (17) preventing pressure in its hydraulic chamber (10) exceeding a predetermined peak value. This valve can be mounted in the liq. supply passage (12), parallel to a non-return valve (13) controlling the supply. The pressure medium may run over in a leakage chamber, coupled to a collector, the leakage chamber being set within the piston structure.</p> |
