<p>The driver in the cabin of a public works vehicle has a control lever on either side of the seat. To avoid difficulty when getting into position, the driver is able to fold the lever over close to the floor. A bracket assembly (3) in a housing (1) on the vehicle floor acts as a universal coupling with perpendicular axes (4, 5). This allows control shafts (7) to be operated by a ball joint (6) on one of the axes. The bracket is controlled by a lever (8) over which a bellows (22) is located to prevent ingress of dirt. The lever is hollow and houses a control shaft (10) which is attached via a joint (11) to a push rod (12). This is operated by a button (9) on the lever extremity to push a piston (16) into the bracket against spring (17) action. This allows the lever to fold against the floor.</p> |
