A passenger transfer vehicle for airports has the cabin (5) driving position (6) and extending gangway (8) mounted on servo raised arms (4) on the chassis. This positions the gangway onto high aircraft as well as first floor passenger lounges. A dual servo pump system ensures fail-safe operation of the lifting and rams, even with the vehicle engine stopped. The lifting hydraulic system is a self contained circuit powered by a main pump driven off the engine. A standby electric pump is driven off the battery, while a hand pump allows manual operation to lower the cabin if required. The pumps are mounted in the chassis and draw from a common fluid reservoir. They are coupled to the rams via pressure control valves.
