Clamp and support for overhead power cables - has side spring dampers and central support for cable with two insulator fastenings

A clamp unit holds overhead power cables on the end of the insulator. The insulator support is a double-multi-unit type (1, 2) and the clamp has a top spacing bar (3, 4) which spans both insulator lower ends, fastening with hinge bolts (15) so that the entire insulator clamp unit hangs symmetrical. The clamp unit has side damper braces (11, 12) to prevent the cable and insulators swinging freely, thereby risking damage. The clamp comprises central spacer cross brace (3, 4) from the centre of which a support arm (8) is hinged (10) to carry the cable termination (9). The support arm (8) hangs between the side dampers (11, 12) and through a bottom bracket (7) which limits swing. The top cross brace (3, 4) is hinged to both the insulators (1, 2, 15) and directly below carries the side dampers (11, 12, 16). If one insulator breaks the side dampers maintain support by moving into a sharper bend or elongated form.
