<p>Screening container for transport and storage of radioactive waste such as spent nuclear fuel elements is a cylinder, made of cast steel or cast iron with external cooling ribs. Ribs are arranged in vertical parallel sets of inclined parallel ribs to form a herringbone pattern with an included angle of approx. 90 degrees. When the cooled cylindrical section has a height of h = 5700mm, each chevron limb has a length of L=h/12-h/6 and a height of h=h/50-h/30, with a distance of A=h/300-h/115. Achieves a cooling effect in the standing as well as the lying position during storage and transport.</p> |
