<p>PURPOSE:To maintain the gap between a photosensitive drum and developing roller nearly constant over a long period of time by continuously or intermittently moving the gap holding member composed of linear-structure macromolecular material between the drum and roller. CONSTITUTION:The image forming apparatus consists of a photosensitive drum 1, developing roller 7, sleeve 8 which rotates the surface of the roller 7, a hopper 10 containing toner, etc. Here, the gap holding device consisting of a gap holding member 15, feed shaft 15 and take-up shaft 16 is provided at the both ends of the sleeve 8 in the portion where no development action is done. A film of linear construction is used as the member 15. If with such constitution the hardness and thickness of the film are made adequate and the film is moved continuously or intermittently by the take-up shaft 16, then the gap between the drum and roller may be maintained always constant and the cleaning of the excess toner may be accomplished as well.</p> |
