In the case of a room-enclosing structure which can be dismantled and re-constructed and is intended for erecting exhibition areas, upright (1) and transversely directed (3) structural elements form a framework. Room-enclosing panels (4) are attached to the framework, the upright supports (1) comprising tube profiles having at least two continuous longitudinal slots (16). Mounting and demounting and also cost-effective reusability with large structure variation are to be possible. The structural elements can be used without special connecting elements; i.e. the transverse load-bearing members (3), designed as panel-retaining rails, are retained in the undercut slots (16) of the supports (1) by their sliding retaining heads (14) located on both sides.
