There are provided compounds of formula …… wherein R is C4-C16 alkyl, acetoxymethyl or phenyl, one of R<1> and R<2> is hydrogen, the other of R<1> and R<2> being hydrogen or -CN, and R<3> is -OH, -NH2 or -OR<4>, wherein R<4>, is C1-C4 alkyl, and compositions containing such compounds, for use in inhibition of lipogenesis in mammals.
