The container is for a cast for fixing to the end of a fishing line with wall sections which can turn with respect to each other via a joint and which together form an outlet for the cast. The wall sections can be connected by a locking device which opens on meeting the water surface. The container wall is formed by an elastically flexible material piece (18). The locking device in the bottom region of the wall section (20, 22) has a bolt guide (28) on one wall section (20) and a break (30) on the other wall section (22), through which the bolt guide can be introduced. A bolt (32) has a pick-up face (36) acting with the water surface. The peripheral distance between the bold guide and the break (30) is less than the container circumference at the height of the join (24).
