<p>NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance A11725 III (and its salt) having the following characteristics: color, white; molecular formula C36H59NO11; molecular weight, 681; melting point, 99-102 deg.C; [alpha]D, -2.3 deg. (c=1.0%, methanol); positive to potassium permanganate solution decolorizing reaction; basic; solubility, soluble in an acidic aqueous solution, methanol, acetone, benzene, etc., slightly soluble in an alkaline aqueous solution, insoluble in hexane, etc. EXAMPLE:Antibacterial agent effective to infectious respiratory diseases caused by gram-positive bacteria, e.g. staphylococci. Feed additive and antibacterial agent for the remedy of animal diseases. PROCESS:Bacteria capable of producing antibiotic substance A11725 III, e.g. Micromonospora sp A11725, are inoculated in a medium containing assimilable carbon source and nitrogen source, and inorganic substances, and cultured under aerobical conditions. The objective substance is separated from the cultured product.</p> |
