Fitting rings are set one on top of another to line shafts, esp. of round or oval cross-section, dug into the ground. The rings (1) are in the form of tubes (2) made of elastic material. They incorporate each a connecting union (13), via which their interior space can be filled with filler material under pressure. The tube wall facing the interior (a) may be reinforced in comparison with that facing the ground and wall sections may be of different thickness. Plastics material may be used, and the reinforcement on the shaft facing side may be of glass fibre mat. The connecting union may be in the form of a non-return valve.
