PURPOSE:To make a rubber chafer semi-cured evenly in a short time to a better adhesive property with other rubber by ionizing radiation. CONSTITUTION:A compounded rubber containing 40-90wt% of butadiene rubber as compounded rubber component is subjected to ionizing radiation at 1-20Mrad. Since there is a correlativity between transmittance of electron beam and relative radiation, a comparatively even semi-cure is obtainable by selecting an acceleration voltage of the electron beam so that effective transmittance OE will coincide with the thickness of a rubber chafer. To cure the center higher than the surface layer, the rubber chafer is subjected to radiation from both sides. The rubber chafer can now be semi-cured evenly in a short time, and adhesive property with other rubber can thus be improved. Friction of a tire rim is then prevented, and safety and durability of the tire are improved consequently. |
