<p>The coin return or dispensing chute for a telephone has a feed portion at the top (1) which incorporates a coin testing device. Good coins are allowed to roll down a sloping carrier arm (7) which holds a set of coins in reserve until released. This arm is cruciform in section with a groove (8) along each arm to retain the coins. At the top of the arm is a disc (15) with slots (16) across it, in line with the grooves. The arm is rotated by a motor when a faulty coin is detected, so that the disc is also rotated through an angle of 45 deg. so that the faulty coin is deflected sideways, since a groove is no longer in line with it. A viewing window can be incorporated. A contact (10) at the top indicates the minimum rate for the coins in the chute.</p> |
