PURPOSE:To enable the light isolator to be constituted in small size by using two converging lenses in place of two lenses for obtaining parallel beams of a known isolator. CONSTITUTION:If the relative positions in the Y-axis direction on the converging lens G1 and double refractive crystal plate B1, double refractive crystal plate B2, converging lens G2 of the 1st optical system A1 as well as the positions in the Y-axis direction of the end face K1 of the optical guide K1 and lens G2 of the 2nd optical system A2 and the end face K2 of the optical guide K2 of the 3rd optical system A3 are beforehand suitably selected, entering the light having the two linearly polarized components whose polarization directions have mutually orthogonal directions into the optical guide K1 as incident light L1 enables the light having the two linearly polarized components to be obtained from the optical guide K2 as exit light L1'. On the contrary, the light from the optical guide K2 does not enter the optical guide K1. As compared to conventional systems, the thicknesses of the double refractive crystal plates B1, B2 may be made sufficiently small and therefore the isolator may be made into extremely small constitution. |
