<p>At least one surface of the sheet is free from oxides, and has a coating (I) preventing rust formation. Coating (I) is pref. an acrylic resin, 1-20 mu m thick; or a paraffin wax 2-20 mu m thick; or an alkyd resin 1-15 mu m thick. The oxide free surface is pref. formed by hot dip Zn coating and etching; or by electroplating the sheet with Zn; or by the vapour deposition of Zn. The resulting sheet is pref. used to mfr. cans with a soldered seam, e.g. 18 litre cans; or cans holding paint or oil etc., where the invention improves the solderability of the sheet.</p> |
