D-Homosteroids with hormonal activity and the formula <IMAGE> in which R<6> is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or methyl, R<11> is hydroxyl, fluorine or chlorine, R<9> is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine when R<11> is hydroxyl, and chlorine or bromine when R<11> is fluorine or chlorine, R<21> is halogen, R<17a> is hydroxyl or acyloxy, and the dotted 1,2 bond is optional, are prepared. The process is based on halogenation of a corresponding 21-hydroxy-D-homosteroid.
